Worship

Churches of Christ are non-denominational. We have no centralized governing organization. The head of the church is Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23). Each congregation of the churches of Christ is autonomous, and it is the Word of God that unites us into One Faith (Ephesians 4:3-6). We follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and his Apostles, and not the teachings of man. We are Christians only!

Our worship service consists of several elements as found in the New Testament:

Singing - We will sing several songs and hymns. Songs will be sung a cappella which means without musical accompaniment. We do this because we believe scripture authorizes this kind of music in our worship. Ephesians 5:19, "Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, sing and making melody in your heart to the Lord."

Prayer - During the service, men will lead the congregation in prayers. Acts 2:42, "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers."

The Lord's Supper - Members of the church partake in the Lord's Supper each Sunday following the example of the early church. Acts 20:7, "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight."

We partake of the Lord's Supper to remember the Lord's death until He comes again as He commanded. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, "For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come."

Giving -  We have the opportunity to give a contribution for the work of the church each first day of the week.  1 Corinthians 16:2 " Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come."

Preaching - Our worship service includes studying God's word through reading and preaching.  2nd Timothy 4:1–2, "I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word, be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine." 2nd Timothy 2:15, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

We believe these elements of worship are the same as those practiced by the early church and we strive to worship God in Spirit and truth as the scriptures command. John 4:24, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."
